P.O.C.C.

Warehouse Volunteer

What:
Warehouse volunteers sort donated orthotic and prosthetic components and help package supplies to be sent to clinics/individuals requesting materials.
Where:
Atlanta – P.O.C.C. Warehouse at Bobby Dodd Institute
When:
Various days and times; we have a workday at least once a month.
Who:
Anyone! No special training required.

P&O Clinic at Good Sam

Orthotist/Prosthetist

What:
Practitioners commit to providing services for a specific patient. Responsibilities include assessing patient, developing plan of care, modifying positive model, fitting and adjusting orthosis/prosthesis, and providing follow-up care as needed. A MSPO student is assigned to each patient to help out during visits and to fabricate the device.
Where:
Atlanta – Good Samaritan Health Center
When:
Anytime the clinic is open and patient is available (M-F 8-5, Monday evenings, Wednesday evenings, some Saturday mornings)
Who:
Certified/Licensed Orthotists and Prosthetists

Student Volunteer

What:
Student volunteers assist certified P&O practitioners in providing services to patients. Responsibilities include attending patient appointments, assessing patient and presenting as case study to practitioner, performing outcome measures at beginning and end of treatment, and fabricating device (with assistance).
Where:
Atlanta – Good Samaritan Health Center
When:
Times arranged by practitioner and patient
Who:
Students enrolled in orthotics and prosthetics programs

Technician

What:
Technicians assist students with fabricating their patient’s orthosis/prosthesis.
Where:
Atlanta – Good Samaritan Health Center
When:
Anytime the clinic is open and student is available (M-F 8-5, Monday evenings, Wednesday evenings, some Saturday mornings)
Who:
Individuals with experience in P&O fabrication

Project Hope Belize

Mission Trip Volunteer

What:
Volunteers provide services at our clinic in Orange Walk Town, Belize.
Where:
Orange Walk Town, Belize
When:
We usually have a 7 day trip three times a year.
Who:
Orthotists, prosthetists, P&O students, technicians
